Factor Meals Cost

Preparing nutritious and balanced meals can be challenging, whether you’re searching for fresh recipe ideas or feeling overwhelmed by meal planning at the end of a busy day.

I understand—cooking takes time and effort, and it’s easy to resort to takeout or fast food for convenience. As a registered dietitian, I’ve found that meal delivery services can simplify the process of eating well.

One of the standout options, recognized by the Good Housekeeping Institute Nutrition Lab as a top choice for both weight loss and low-carb meal plans, is Factor. If you’re considering subscribing, here’s what you should know.

Meal Choices

Factor offers a variety of meals, particularly in categories like keto and high-protein, though options for dairy-free and vegetarian diets are somewhat limited. At this time, meal modifications are not available.

Each meal includes a detailed description, ingredient list, and nutritional information, making it easy to make informed choices. In addition to fully prepared meals, Factor also provides proteins, snacks, desserts, and smoothies.

While there are no fixed “meal plans,” you can filter meals based on dietary preferences, such as:

  • Chef’s Picks: A diverse selection of well-balanced meals with wholesome ingredients.
  • Keto: Meals containing approximately 15 grams or fewer net carbs.
  • Calorie Smart: Dishes with about 550 calories or less per serving.
  • Flexitarian: A mix of plant-based and animal protein meals.
  • Protein-Plus: Meals with at least 30 grams of protein.
  • Vegan & Veggie: Meat-free, plant-based options.

How Much Does Factor Cost?

Factor provides meal plans ranging from six to 18 servings per week, starting at $11 per serving. Larger orders, such as the 14- or 18-meal plans, offer better value, making them ideal for those planning to eat multiple Factor meals daily. Here’s a breakdown of pricing:

  • 6 meals per week – $13.49 per serving
  • 8 meals per week – $12.99 per serving
  • 10 meals per week – $12.49 per serving
  • 12 meals per week – $11.99 per serving
  • 14 meals per week – $11.49 per serving
  • 18 meals per week – $10.99 per serving

Nutrition and Ingredients

Factor meals generally range between 350 and 900 calories, with an average of around 600 calories per dish. You can view nutrition details and ingredient lists for each meal by selecting the image on Factor’s menu page.

Additionally, Factor provides a complimentary nutrition consultation with a registered dietitian, a rare feature among meal delivery services. While the company does not currently offer low-sodium meals, you can check sodium content by clicking on a meal’s details.

Factor emphasizes high-quality ingredients and ethical sourcing, working closely with food suppliers and animal welfare experts. The company also shares its U.S. Chicken Welfare Policy, outlining its standards and future commitments. One Good Housekeeping tester noted, “I appreciate that the meals are free from preservatives and use responsibly sourced meats and eggs.”

Nutritional and allergen information is accessible on Factor’s website and meal packaging. Since Factor does not accommodate all dietary restrictions, reviewing ingredients before purchasing is advisable.

My Experience Trying Factor

Ordering and Selecting Meals

I appreciated the ability to view detailed information before choosing meals. The website’s visually appealing photography reassured me that these meals were a step above typical microwave options, which often suffer from uneven heating or undesirable textures.

I opted for the Flexitarian plan, which includes both plant- and animal-based proteins, to maintain energy and variety in my diet. Despite my shellfish allergy and lactose intolerance, I had plenty of options without restrictions. I prefer meals that balance protein, carbs, and vegetables, and Factor exceeded my expectations.

After selecting my six meals, I scheduled my delivery date and finalized my order.

Unboxing the Meals

The package arrived in excellent condition, with insulated packaging keeping everything fresh. The meals were neatly organized and visually appealing, with sustainable packaging options for recycling, reuse, or composting.

Heating and Preparation

The best part? No prep or cooking—just a quick poke with a fork and into the microwave. Factor also recommends heating meals in the oven on a sheet pan for those who prefer that method. Each meal comes with clear heating instructions, ensuring a hassle-free process. However, the trays are not suitable for toaster or convection ovens.

One tester commented, “The meals were incredibly easy to heat—just two minutes in the microwave, and they retained their flavor, texture, and freshness.”

For safety, meals should be heated to at least 165°F internally. While most meals warmed up evenly, I found that my filet mignon required an additional 30 seconds for optimal heat distribution. Overall, the instructions were straightforward and easy to follow.

Taste and Nutrition

I found the flavors to be well-developed, with thoughtful seasoning and a generous portion size. One of my favorites was the Cilantro Lime Barramundi, which was also a hit among other testers.

A tester who tried the salmon and barramundi meals noted, “The fish was high quality with a great texture, and I appreciated that it wasn’t watery.”

However, some side dishes were less impressive. A tester reviewing the Baja Tofu Black Beans and Rice commented, “While I enjoyed the chewiness, the tofu and rice felt a bit soggy.” Another tester added, “The tofu could have been crispier, and the portion size was a bit small for dinner.”

The Roasted Veggie Pesto Tortellini stood out for its fresh pesto flavor and perfectly cooked pasta. However, one vegetarian tester noted that the meal lacked sufficient protein, saying, “I prefer high-protein vegetarian meals, and this one didn’t offer enough.”

While I enjoyed most dishes, I wasn’t a fan of the filet mignon, as I found it a bit tough. That said, the sides—cheesy grits and roasted carrots—were flavorful.

One downside I noticed was the high sodium content, ranging from 800 to 1,200 mg per meal, which may not be ideal for those monitoring sodium intake. I’d love to see Factor introduce lower-sodium options.

Although I appreciated the convenience, I would have liked recipe cards to recreate some dishes at home, especially the Barramundi. Despite this, the meals met my expectations in both taste and quality.

Who Should Try Factor?

Factor is a great option for individuals or couples who want nutritious meals without the hassle of cooking. It’s also an excellent choice for those following specific diets like keto, low-carb, or high-protein.

Although not specifically designed for weight loss, Factor’s meals can support various health goals, and the company offers free nutrition consultations with dietitians. Factor also integrates with apps like MyFitnessPal for easy tracking.

However, this service may not be ideal for those on a tight budget, families, or individuals with multiple dietary restrictions.

Is Factor Worth It?

In my opinion, Factor is an excellent meal delivery service offering fresh, ready-to-eat meals that cater to different dietary needs.

While the cost is on the higher side, I believe the convenience and quality justify the price. One tester remarked, “It’s too expensive for me to buy regularly, but the quality is impressive.”

Another tester added, “I’ve always been unsure about meal delivery services, but I plan to order Factor for my husband and me. I love how balanced and nutritious the meals are.”

By eliminating grocery shopping and meal prep, Factor provides an easy way to enjoy nutrient-dense meals with minimal effort. Plus, the availability of dietitian consultations adds value to the service.

Would I recommend Factor? Yes—if it fits your budget, it’s worth trying.
